"Have you ever wondered why people seem to be falling sick so often?" This was a line in one of the advertisements and guess what, the conclusion was that because people did not use the said disinfectant! Well this may be true but that is a story for another day the issue is- how much have we contributed to the distruction of nature? I ponder about this everyday especially when I have to walk through a congested city with heavy traffic, alot of polution form the vehicle exhausts and factory emmissions. Neiter is the hot sun forgiving as it scorches my already burnt skin! When it rains it is equally unbearable as the drainage system is not in good order- believe me I have had to dispose off a number of pairs of shoes on those rainy days when I literally wadded in the water. What are we doing about these- that is what one could ask.
Pollution is a major problem facing the world if you can recall the heated debate on carbondioxide emissions. Researchers keep saying that the ozone layer is being depleted at a very high rate thanks to the polution. We are the ones who will suffer from our own actions and we must do something.
The Kenyan Government budget 2007-2008 by the Minister of Finance Hon. Amos Kimunya was harsh on plastic bags manufacturers slapping 120% excise tax on their product which was done inorder to reduce the use of thin plastic. Plastic is non organic and tis effects to the earth are dire. In my town because of poor waste collection there are so many areas that now have plastic for cover- if the trend continues, what is likely to happen is 20years to come?
I encourage us to join the anti plastics campaign to save our earth.
